Locating Afro-Asian solidarity in Grace Lee Bogg's vision of education, the scholar-activism of Margo Okazawa-Rey, and the work of Asian American grassroots organizers within the #BlackLivesMatter movement, Jeanelle Hope highlights the various ways in which Afro-Asian solidarity has manifested in the post-Civil Rights era. The talk will also grapple with the politics of solidarity-building and indentify factuors that have thwarted Afro-Asian solidarity.
