Students Create Story Map on Asian American Migration & Environmental Justice

During the 2018-2019 academic year, a number of students in the Asian American Studies Department worked on a collaborative public history project focused on environmental justice — including a symposium in partnership in the Chicanx Department at California State University, Northridge. As part of this project, UCSB students Frances Tang, Jarel Park, Kahlil Kochiyama, Renne Zapata, TJ Jose, and Michelle Jocson-Macrohon created a story map focused on Asian American migration and environmental justice: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/727c4e33cc554675b7b64ed317cda043

Congratulations to our students on a fantastic job! We hope the sharing of personal stories like those of Say Tang will expand our definition of what it means to be an environmentalist and how immigrant communities can resist environmental oppression.
