POSITION OVERVIEW

Position title: Lecturer (Non-Senate Faculty)

Salary range: See Table 15 for the salary range for this position.

A reasonable estimated full-time rate for this position at 100% time is $66,259-$68,247 annually. Percent appointments may vary.
Percent time: 33-67% depending on department needs
Position duration: 3 months with the possibility of renewal depending on department needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Asian American Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for


a pool of qualified lecturers to teach courses in Asian American Studies for upcoming openings. Screening of


applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter,


depending on the needs of the department. All positions will be part time.


Successful candidates will be hired to teach one or two courses listed in the Department’s current curricular


offerings. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach mental health, transnationalism, law and


immigration, environmental justice, communities, and ethnographies from an Asian American studies


perspective. Candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through


research, teaching, and service are particularly encouraged to apply.

Appointments for fall quarter are usually reviewed in May, winter quarter in October, and for spring quarter in

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Masters Degree in Asian American Studies or related fields.

 

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Candidate must have at least one year of teaching experience.

 

Preferred qualifications

Ph.D. trained in Asian American Studies or related fields or completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. in Asian American Studies or related field (or equivalent degree) except dissertation at the time of application. Strong teaching background desired.
